If you’ve been looking for something to spice up your life, look no further. Gay Meatmen Comics is a gay comic book about the adventures of the gay meatmen who inhabit a subterranean warren of tunnels and sewers. The Meatmen live happily underground and have their own way of doing things: it is not until they meet the more-conventional surface-dwellers that gay society can truly see its reflection in the mirror. These comics depict gay culture with all its diversity and complexities, including characters dealing with discrimination and bigotry. Whether dealing with the trials and tribulations of their own lives, or those of others, both characters and readers will find themselves immersed in a gay world where love and heartache and joy and pain all blend together into a bittersweet mix. This isn’t just a comic book: it is gay life on the page, on the Internet, on the phone, on the bus… everywhere this thing you’re reading right now can go. Gay Meatmen Comics is an up-to-date work about contemporary gay society, written with sensitivity for all its diversity. It's neither ironclad nor permissive: it's an honest depiction of this society people live inside. It's a comic about gay life, in all its complexity. It's not the same thing as the gay lifestyle you’ve always seen in the media, but it is something different in this world, in this time. We’re working at bringing this comic book to life in ways that are valuable for both the community and the artist. We are working on getting copies into stores across Canada, and spreading it throughout North America via distribution networks. We are also starting to get eBooks into circulation. It's really happening: we hope you'll give it a chance and show these comics some love. The Project: http://gaymeatmencomics.com/ To contact the project creator, please email: peter@gaymeatmencomics.com or advertise@gaymeatmencomics.com Project creator Peter Winter has been interviewed by numerous media sources including The Advocate, Vice Magazine, The Chad Hugo Show on Sirius-XM Canada, and Gay City News. He is frequently interviewed by local media in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada alongside other local comics creators such as Steve Darnall and John Young. Project creator Peter Winter is an active member of the Ottawa Comics community, which has provided support for the project, including local cartoonists Steve Darnall and John Young. Ontario Arts Council support for Peter Winter's Gay Meatmen Comics work began in 2001. He indicated that he began writing the comics after moving to Ottawa in 2000. Having previously worked as a full-time designer and web administrator, he was unable to make a living supporting his comics work due to the difficulty of making comics alongside full-time employment. Ontario Arts Council support allowed him to focus on his comics work full-time for two years before he returned to working only part-time on this project while working another part-time job. cfa1e77820
